cows tongue....

So here it is folks.... the grossest thing I think I have done since I have been here... I led junior high chapel today and we talked about taming the tongue. Afterall did you know that the tongue is the fastest healing part of the body? Well it's true. If you think about it though, the tongue can also be the most dangerous. We talked about how the tongue can cause the whole body to stumble, how one of the smallest parts of the body can cause so much pain and suffering. Check out James 3!

Before we talked about this, I had three "volunteers" (volunteered by their teachers...payback? maybe so!) anyway three guys came up and we blindfolded them then they had to touch what was on a pan in a garbage bag. Well they thought it was gross, a little rough, a little slimy....

They soon found out that they were actually touching a cows tongue! I have never seen one before... but cows tongues are really large... this one weighed about 3.5 pounds and it was over a foot long. All the taste buds and everything were still on it... so you see in this entry a picture of me holding a cows tongue.

At the end of our chapel I wiggled the tongue all around them... and then said to them "next time you think about saying something that is bad mouthing someone, disrespecting, rude or the like I want you to think about how gross this cow's tongue is and rethink your words."

I would like to say it worked great... which I think it got a point across, but on the other hand one of the boys got a sitation in the next class period for flipping someone off (not using their tongue of course) but then they said some bad stuff.... but hopefully the message got to a few of them....

PS my bike came in today! Yay! :)
